Ethics are extremely important to us here at Switch. We pride ourselves on being transparent and open about what we do — we didn't start this company to simply market schools. Rather, our ultimate goal has always been to add balance to the rapidly expanding alternative education space by providing honest and objective content.
At SwitchUp, our mission is simple; We want potential bootcamp attendees, current bootcamp attendees and graduates to have access to everything they need to begin a tech career. As tech continues to evolve, we hope to be at the forefront of your search for the best training programs.
We’re careful to note that SwitchUp's revenue model is based on sponsorships and advertising. Such sponsorships help us keep our resources completely free for students, and sponsorship is marked on any paid content.
Our full review guidelines are available at the bottom of this page. We clearly and openly disclose any relationships we have with programs. This does not affect any reviews, positive or negative, that are submitted to the website. Again, we are not in the business of promoting schools: Most of our affiliate programs are with other services that our website does not review. We will clearly indicate all advertisements as affiliate or sponsored content. All editorial content co-produced with schools and other programs will also be marked accordingly. This allows us to maintain transparency within this community, something that is really important to us.
SwitchUp uses a three-step verification policy for reviews. First the reviewer must authorize the review via 2-step email confirmation or LinkedIn confirmation. Second, the review will be reviewed by our moderators before being published live. Third, we have a flagging and commenting system. Should a review be flagged, SwitchUp’s moderators will then do an additional verification to ensure the reviewer is a valid alumnus and it is within our guidelines. Within 48 hours, we will decide if the review needs to be removed. We strongly encourage our community to help us if they see suspicious reviews. We encourage reviewers to make their names public for the review, although anonymous reviews are also always welcome.
Post honestly, with information that is valuable to future bootcamp students. Consider different aspects of your bootcamp experience, such as the curriculum, instructors, environment, and job support. Write about what your bootcamp does best, and how it might improve. Only post links to relevant content, such as an online portfolio. Check your spelling and grammar before you post.
SwitchUp aims to be a respectful, informative, and honest resource, and we reserve the right to remove content that does not meet our policies. The following is subject to removal:
Reviews posted on behalf of other students, or reviews that impersonate others. Spam or fake reviews, including those intended to alter ratings. Content that includes or provides links to sexually explicit material. Profane or offensive language. Commentary or links that are hateful, threatening, or harass others. Duplicate posts. Reviews that are off-topic. Reviews are only intended to provide helpful insight on a bootcamp or training program. Reviews that were not authored by a valid applicant, student, or graduate.
If you wish to revise a review, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is a subject that is close to our heart. We believe in transparency with advertising and for any school that we decide to partner with. We go through a rigorous screening process and will clearly label the advertising as a “sponsored” post. We prefer advertising and partnering with companies outside of our industry that we are not reviewing, as this allows us to remain objective and transparent with our practices. When forming third-party affiliate partnerships, we make sure the other company’s ethics and policies align with our own standards before accepting the partnership. Advertising revenue is important to help sustain the company operations and expenses.
