I went from fork lift driver to software developer over the course of a year working full time. Most everything with my experience was positive. The curriculum covered a wide variety of topics that started with backend development for 10 weeks with a midterm project that was a fully RESTful api. The latter half of the course focused on front end development using AngularJS. By the end of the 20 week course I was able to fully build and deploy a full stack web application. Furthermore, the course focused a large section of time on studying data structures and algorithms and career development. These combined gave me the skills needed to apply and interview for software development positions.

Pros I have had so far are fast pace learning, on scale with what I had to do while I was in the military. My insctructor Adam is VERY knowledgeable and will always make sure you get the help you need to understand what you are doing. The environment is very friendly and they provide a networking experience like I have never seen, with lunches every Friday that have speakers from other tech companies. The only con I have right now is parking, it would be nice if they could provide parking information in the local area (very short walking distance) that offer monthly parking. Or even one up that and maybe add an extra cost option into tuition and have the parking taken care of like maybe parking in the Cisco building it...

Code Fellows is the best decision I've ever made. My job in real estate was lacking any challenge, I was bored, so I started thinking about doing something completely different. I was living in LA, planning to use my GI Bill funds to attend a code school that was advertising approval for GI Bill funds, turned out they weren't actually approved. I found out Code Fellows was approved, got in touch with them and it has worked out great. After my time in the Air Force, I became a day trader but wanted something more, there's no community aspect in that industry. In the coding world, it's all about community, it's awesome to be in such a supportive environment. I just finished the 401 Full Stack JavaScript class (having also taken 201 and 301 at Code Fellows). My experience has been phenomenal the entire way through. The staff and TAs are dedicated to student success, both in terms of the technical curriculum (web development) and preparation for entering the job market. Code Fellows instructors are not only experts in the field, they are also deeply attuned to how people learn to code, what works and what doesn't, and what students need from instructors to do their best work. Both of the instructors I had genuinely cared about each and every student and their progress. I’m an Army Veteran, and after doing my service, I wanted to get into a career where I could create stuff as well as have a more flexible schedule. I was trying to teach myself how to code, using Code Academy, Team Treehouse, and other websites. Then after attending a Code Fellows 101 in NYC taught by Brook, I knew this was the school for me, so I decided to relocate to Seattle and attend the school full-time since they took the G.I Bill. Mindy and Maggi in Admissions were great and helped me get the GI Bill funds and the Code Fellows Diversity Scholarship for their 401 course.

I did very well and I think why I did well came down to a few things:

My experience with Code Fellows was awesome. Their developers program provides you with the necessary skills and experience to find your ideal career. Classes are small in size which lends to more 1-on-1 time with teachers and TA's. The curriculum is constantly being changed depending on what languages and frameworks are being used in the industry, so you're consistently up to speed with the latest technologies. Other perks include talks from industry insiders and leaders, resume/interview/whiteboard prep classes, post-graduation job search support, and more!

I have mixed feelings when it comes to my time at Code Fellows. I mean overall my life has completely changed for the better since getting into computer science and the single greatest thing that has ever happened to me was being hired on at my current company as a software engineer. Computer science isn't easy, in fact most people are scared of it which is great job security for the rest of us! Now on to my time at Code Fellows.

Here is my pros and cons and then I'll explain after.
PROS:
- Its very challenging and challenges build character and prove what you're capable of. They get you out of your comfort zone which is great for personal growth.

This is a very fast paced program. I started having very little computer knowledge but everyone is extremely helpful! The teachers seem to really care about your learning and want to make sure that you understand what is happening. Due to the fast paced program, I would recommend not working while going to school (at least for the day courses).
I will warn that if you are a slower learner, you may be struggling through the courses.

I learned a lot from the iOS accelerator program, now it's called 401 course.
It was a 8 week program (now it's 10 weeks long). 9am~5pm. Usually we'd have lectures in the morning and lab in the afternoon.
Each week, we'd have an assignment/project and pop quiz. We learned both Objective-C and Swift, which I thought was really cool because a lot of companies still use Objective-C. And it's always good to know both.

After completing​ CF​ course​, I spent 3~4 months working on​ several​ side projects with friends. I thought it would be nice​​ to have a complete app on the App Store before applying jobs.

I took CodeFellow's Code 201 course and it was the most challenging thing I have ever done. Expectations and standards are high to push you outside your comfort zone.

I had no prior coding experience before taking the 201 course. On day one, I hardly knew what a variable was and by day thirty I was presenting a project that my team had created. It felt surreal to look back at the code I made and understand each and every line, when it had all looked like an alien language on the first day of class.

During lecture from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., our instructor showed us some demo code and introduced new concepts, but the real learning happened during lab in the afternoon, and ultimately it was up to us to learn by doing through lab and homework assignments (with TAs and our instructor o...

The material was good, but support from instructors should be more for even in class as well as after class.

Let's start with the cons.

You will be tired if you attend a bootcamp.
Your brain will hurt.
You will feel stupid at times.
You will want to quit at times because you're afraid of failure.
All other activities that you fill your time with will be completely irrelevant while attending a bootcamp.
They're not cheap.

...and now for the pros

All of your sleepless nights will be worth it in the end.
Your brain hurts because it's absorbing new information.
Don't worry, you're supposed to feel stupid. The material is hard, but so is everything else worth achieving.
If you give it your all, you won't fail. There is a great network of people who are willing to help and support you in your journey.
The price is worth it, absolutely worth it.

I'm in the middle of the Code Fellows bootcamp and have learned a crazy amount about coding in just 8 weeks. My friends with traditional computer science degrees can't believe how much I learn in a single week. Like any bootcamp, the pace is fast and the content is challenging, but the harder you work, the more you'll gain. I knew going into this program that it would be tough and I would put in long days. What I didn't expect was to meet so many supportive faculty and TAs who genuinely want to see you do well and will celebrate your victories with you.

This program is literally changing my life and I have no regrets :)

I attended Code Fellows coming in with a background in science, and with previously coding as a hobby in other languages. I took the 201, 301, 401 (Python), and the 501 (Data Analysis/Visualization). At Code Fellows in Seattle I've taken the 301:Intermediate Software Development and 401: Advanced Software Development in Python classes.

301: The course focuses on intermediate JavaScript (APIS, AJAX, and some best practices, etc.). I was definitely glad that I learned this material in a structured way, rather than trying to teach it to myself. It would have taken a lot longer. The class was not as tough as I was expecting, though some people struggled. The instructors are great and help a lot. If you're curious and work hard, there's opportunity to learn a lot more than whats in the curriculum, and the instructors support that.

401 Python: This class is tough. I didn't believe them when they said we'd all feel like we're drowning, but they were right. Code Fellows does...

Code Fellows is a great program for taking you from a person interested in software development to a Full Stack developer with the learning skills necessary to pick up any coding language. They focus on the Growth Mindset and showing students how not to give up when confronted by difficult problems and fulfill this by implementing a stacked learning environment. Stacked learning is a front loaded continuous challenge of learning something quickly and continually applying it to a set of problems as you continue to learn more on top of it. I was a barista for 15 year, I have a degree in digital media animation, and I am finally a full Stack developer thanks to Code Fellows!
I started Code Fellows because I wanted a more stable and dynamic career but still without much knowledge of what I was getting into. And it was a wild ride!
I started not knowing a semicolon From a curried function, spent the first 4 days of the 301 working from a hospital bed and 9 months later, finished the full Stack JavaScript program.
All of the staff are amazing and helpful and want only to see the success of everyone around them.
I would highly recommend this program to anyone with an open mind and the willingness to work their ass off.

One thing that sometimes is not so good is that you will be paired together with someone that doesn't really pay attention and you have to do the work yourself.

I attended Code Fellows Foundation II course in iOS when it was structured that way; and recently I have completed their 201 course and am about to attended the 301 course. The new course curriculum focuses on web-development, originally with basic HTML, CSS and Javascript, and advancing toward full-stack development. I loved the course. The instructors were always willing to ask questions about help push you out of your comfort zone to help you develop. It defintely requires hard work and focus but it is completely attainable if you push yourself! The last two classes I have attended have been the nights and weekend course which allows me to continue working in my industry while I learn a new skillset.

Code Fellows is really amazing bootcamp for those of who aspire to be a front end developer and SDET.All session are recorded and accessible in youtube channel.The assignments and the projects are real.The instructors are really talented.

I've been involved with a few different code bootcamps, and this one was by far the best, for 3 reasons:

- Instruction staff. Their teachers are incredible. Our lead instructor was extremely attentive to each student's experience and comfort level. He listened to feedback and was extremely responsive in tailoring lectures or scheduling impromptu review sessions of topics that were taking longer for us to sink in. He was very good about setting expectations about where we should be when, and did a good job of pushing us when we needed to be pushed and comforting the class when we were struggling.

- The emphasis on QUALITY code. I had been doing a bunch of self-taught coding before enrolling, and I had to unlearn a lot of what I learned on Stack Overflow... which I was very happy to...

My year long journey at Code Fellows was nothing shy of amazing. I’m 36 and was looking for a career change. Information Security has always been a passion of mine, I’m the IT guy at work but in information security the tools you use will only get you so far. I needed to learn how to code.

I attended 4 courses in total at Code Fellows, over a 2 year period starting in late 2014. I started with an Intro to Computer Science and Web Design, then a beginning iOS Development (no longer offered.) I then took the Code 301 Intermediate Software Development (web design with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS), followed by the Code 401 Advanced iOS Development.
